Accessing the COMBINE Dataset

You must have contributed data to COMBINE as a Consortium Member in order to access the COMBINE dataset. (You may be eligible if a collaborator or another investigator at your site/institution has contributed data.)

propose a study

You must submit a Data Use Proposal to be reviewed by the COMBINE team. The proposal must not duplicate ongoing or proposed work of another Consortium Member. Once your proposal is approved, you and your team will be designated as Authorized COMBINE Dataset Users and granted access through the COMBINE REDCap portal.

Cite COMBINE

You must cite COMBINE in any work products resulting from use of the dataset. The COMBINE team will provide you with a list of templates for citing COMBINE in different formats (e.g., on a poster, in a manuscript, in a presentation).

Embargo Period

Consortium Members who contribute data by 12/31/2024 will have access to the COMBINE dataset without an embargo period, once they have submitted an obtained approval for a Data Use Proposal.

Consortium Members who contribute data on or after 01/01/2025 will be subject to a 6-month embargo period from the date on which their contribution is received. Their Data Use Proposal can be submitted any time during or after this period, and will not affect the date at which access is granted.

Non-Member Access Requests

Investigators who wish to access the COMBINE dataset, but who do not have data to contribute, should email the COMBINE team at COMBINEdataset@gmail.com with details of their situation. These requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and will require sponsorship by a Consortium Member. Student investigators may be sponsored by their primary mentor. Investigators who do not have data to contribute may request the sponsorship of one or more COMBINE Co-Principal Investigators.

Consortium Members’ Data Use Proposals will be given priority over proposals submitted by non-members.
